DOGS ABOUND Daycare Program Changes

Hello loyal clients!

Happy New Year to you and your family, human and canine. We want to firstly and sincerely thank you for your support over the last (almost!) FIVE years. Dogs Abound has grown alongside your dogs and your families and we appreciate you for including us in your lives!

We wanted to let you know that beginning mid-January 2019, we will be implementing some changes, most specifically around our daycare programs. As we have grown as a business, our systems have become more complex. Moving forward, we will streamline our programs to best fit the needs of our clients, ensure we staff properly, and continue to provide the best service of any canine care facility.

The changes will not affect many of our regular daycare dogs. Our “green dogs ” who go into daily group play, will still be allowed to drop in without making reservations. We highly appreciate it when you bring dogs on a schedule, or give us a heads up, but we will still allow green dogs to come as needed. This will also include current puppy package clientele.

Reminder, even green dogs still need to come consistently to maintain their ability to integrate into group play.  Even the best playing young dogs can and will often “age out”, or get “rusty” with their social skills if they are not used consistently over time.

The clients that will be most affected are our “yellow” (often our Montessori program participants) and “red” Special Care dogs.

Montessori/yellow dogs are dogs that need a customized schedule while here for the day. They require extra management, and in some cases are allowed managed play with one or two other friends, but they cannot be in regular group play. (Most of our Montessori dogs already come on a schedule, thank you!)

Special Care/red daycare dogs are dogs that cannot/do not socialize with other dogs.

As of February 1st, we will require that our Special Care/red daycare dogs will need to actively participate in an ongoing training program, OR, must schedule their attendance in advance. If you choose the latter option, we will not be able to guarantee you a spot. Special Care dogs take extra time and resources, and because they are valued members of the Dogs Abound family, we want to ensure they are getting the appropriate levels of care and attention.

As of February 1st, we will no longer accept drop ins for Special Care daycare. We sincerely apologize for this change and any inconvenience it may cause.

Also starting February 1st, all Montessori and Special Care dogs will need to be scheduled for the full month. The months will need to be prepaid by the 1st, and the days will need to be scheduled no later than the 28th of the prior month. Being able to schedule the yellow and red dogs out in advance will allow us to staff properly and ensure all the dogs are getting the appropriate level of care.

Months will be pre-paid based on the number of days you scheduled. If you already have a current pass, you are all set.

We will allow one missed day per every 6 days of scheduled attendance. Missed scheduled days WILL NOT be refunded. We will allow one “make up” day per month, with prior notice, to the best of our ability and availability.

We again realize that this may cause some inconvenience for some clients, and for that we sincerely apologize. As the business grows and we are managing more dogs, we must ensure that proper protocols are in place to ensure everyone's’ safety and well-being.
